This month’s Saturday Fun is going to be on Saturday, August 31 starting at 9:30 AM–Labor Day Weekend!
This month we will be exploring a small section of the I&M Canal State Trail, beginning at McKinley Woods. This park is about 30 minutes south of the church, near Minooka. Specifically, we will be meeting at the Frederick’s Grove Picnic Shelter (see photos and map below). Note: this is the second parking lot, which is down the hill from the main picnic area. From here, bikers can travel along the I&M Canal State Trail which is partly paved and partly crushed limestone. Walkers can travel along the Heritage Trail which is a shaded dirt path.
Notice that this is the same starting place as our June event. We had so much fun that we decided to do it again–going down river instead of up river!
