The PC(USA) General Assembly begins on Monday, June 29. You can be a part of the fantastic worship services and other events all week long. If you are new to being a Presbyterian, here are some fun facts to consider:
- FPCD is part of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) – this means our members and pastor have a family that extends locally, nationally, and throughout the world. We are a beautifully interconnected body of believers.
- Presbyterians root themselves in grace and gratitude, remembering that all we have comes by the grace of God and desiring to show gratitude with our whole lives.
- Presbyterians are Reformed and always reforming. Historically, we are a part of the Reformed Tradition, and we continuously stand in faith trusting that God is transforming us as individuals and as a community.
- There is not one way to worship as a Presbyterian but rather we worship One Triune God who has poured out God’s own Spirit on people of every culture and generation. Therefore, we worship through the use of many languages, symbols, and cultural forms.
- Every other year, Pastors and Ruling Elders gather together to worship, fellowship, and make important decisions that impact the life of churches and communities. This gathering of faith is called the “General Assembly.” This year GA is June 27-July 2 in Milwaukee.
- All churches within the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) are bound together by a Constitution which has two parts: The Book of Confessions (what we believe) and The Book of Order (how we live out our beliefs together).
