Our Mission: One Family, One Table, One Community

God is doing amazing work in and through the Congregation and Community of First Presbyterian Church of DuPage! We are called to Ministry and Worship that is Inter-Generational, Inter-cultural, and Community-Based.

Inter-Generational: All Ages, One Family

Inter-Generational ministry is the practice of bringing all generations together — not just in the same room, but in shared activity, mutual teaching, and shared worship — so that every generation, from the oldest to the youngest, is recognized as gifted by God and given real opportunity to serve, lead, and be formed by one another.

Biblical Foundations: Genesis 17, Joel 2, Matthew 19

Inter-Cultural: Many Nations, One Table

Inter-Cultural ministry is the practice where every tradition, language, food, dress, and ceremony present in our congregation is not just welcomed but woven in — a gumbo, not a melting pot—where each culture keeps its distinct flavor even as we cook together as one body. We believe every nation, tribe, and language is called by God and invited to worship and serve as themselves, not as a version of someone else.

Biblical Foundations: Acts 2, Luke 10, Revelation 7

Community-Based: Rooted in 1833, Growing Outward Today

Community-Based ministry is the practice of seeing our community clearly — its needs and its strengths — and responding not as an institution handing out help, but as family: present, visible, and willing to go to the community rather than only waiting for them to come to us. Following Jesus, who taught his disciples to continually reach out, we are historically rooted in the community and commit to an ongoing presence.

Biblical Foundations: Matthew 9, Genesis 12, Matthew 28
